discusses the use of radiation within the dental office. It has been projected
that the use of CBCT imaging in dental offices has doubled in the
last 20 years. With this increase in usage, radiation exposure
to the patient has also increased. The increase in radiation requires
the dental practitioner to adhere to ALADA, or As Low As Diagnostically
Acceptable. This concept states that the dental practitioner only take images
that are required to diagnose a potential problem. The Low Dose
Radiation Protocol can effectively reduce the radiation exposure to
the patient, while allowing the diagnostic image to remain the
same quality as a regular radiation dosed image.
