This is Part 3 of 4 in the 75th Anniversary of Community Water Fluoridation ADA Webinar Series from the ADA Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention's National Fluoridation Advisory Committee

Recorded on July 27, 2020

Overview
Healthcare professionals often wear other "hats": community leader, son, pastor, activist, parent.

"Mom’s Guide to Fluoride" includes three mothers that are also researchers, dental leaders, and environmental scientists. They explain their balance as professional and parent to connect with their community and encourage drinking optimally fluoridated water for the health and well being of all families. Attendees will learn about the power of storytelling to share a message with patients, legislators, and the community. Their first-hand experience with tough fluoride questions will be answered, and their use of evidence-based science will be shared with attendees.

Speakers
Dr. Brittany Seymour, Director - Harvard School of Dental Medicine
Dr. Angeles Martinez Mier, Cariologist - Indiana School of Dentistry
Dr. Effie Greathouse, Environmental Scientist and founder of "Fluoride Exposed"

After this presentation, attendees will be able to:
Use storytelling to defend and explain community water fluoridation
• Understand how dentists can use their "other hats" to connect with patients and community members to advocate for fluoridation
• Explain why community water fluoridation is important for communities and for parents to encourage drinking safe tap water
