ADA Dental Coding Certificate: Assessment-Based CDT Program (books not included)

 As the source of dental procedure codes, the ADA has answered thousands of members’ coding questions over the years. Based on this experience, the ADA created this training course to ensure your dental team understands CDT codes and how to use them correctly.

This version of the course does NOT include the CDT 2020 or Coding Companion books. These books are required reference material necessary for succesful completion of the course. For the version of the course with accompanying books, click here.

This course also offers extensive practice identifying codes that apply to common procedures and treatments. After successfully passing the assessment, you will earn 4 CE hours.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand key terms used in dental coding
  • Confidently complete the ADA Dental Claim Form
  • Effectively use the CDTmanual and its companion to find the right codes in real-world settings
  • Become familiar with the 12 service categories and how codes are structured

Sedation and Medical Emergencies in Children: Part 2

Now what do I do? Identifying and treating emergencies

Overview
Hours are spent training and practicing emergency procedures for adults but totally ignored is a large percentage patient population, children. Emergencies don’t only happen in sedated patients; they can occur in children at any time. Do you have the training and the specific equipment needed to treat and stabilize children? This course will review identification, recognition and treatment of medical and sedation emergencies. By understanding the unique physiology and anatomy of the pediatric patient, prevention of an emergency becomes and important component of emergency care. A child specific emergency kit setup will also be discussed.

 

After completing this course, you will be able to:
Develop a pediatric appropriate emergency kit
• Understand pediatric anatomy and physiology and why emergencies are unique in children
• Develop and train staff for emergency preparedness
• Recognize and manage airway issues in children early in order to stabilize and provide definitive treatment
• Manage vomiting, allergic reactions, overdoses of local anesthetic and anaphylaxis
• Understand the need for frequent emergency training for doctors and staff
