Background
In honor of National Nutrition Month and World Oral Health Day, the American Dental Association Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention presents this course to provide awareness and a deeper understanding of the connection between nutrition and its impact on oral health. Attendees will hear from an exceptional array of speakers, including the American Dental Association President, the World Dental Federation (FDI) President-Elect, and a unique panel discussion addressing nutrition and oral health from the perspective of a dietician, dentist, and endocrinologist.

As part of the continued focus on the ADA’s Action for Dental Health, this presentation will educate oral health professionals on the bi-directional relationship between dietary patterns and oral health. Optimal oral health is critical to preventing chronic and systemic disease. By uniting, oral health advocates can work collaboratively to reduce the burden of oral diseases and empower people with knowledge to live a healthy life.

• Learn about emerging scientific resources illustrating the bi-directional relationship between nutrition and oral health
• Discuss current evidence-based nutrition guidelines to promote oral health and health equity & identify educational and advocacy solutions to improve health outcomes
