Description:
Safe, effective treatment of acute postoperative pain is
essential for patient satisfaction and a successful dental practice. This course
will review how, beyond providing a prescription for an opioid-containing
analgesic, several strategies are now accepted to improve acute postoperative
pain management, including using peripherally acting analgesics and steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs preoperatively and intraoperatively and administration
of long-acting local anesthetics to delay pain onset.
